Happy Birthday To The Beer Can

On January 24, 1935 the first canned beer was sold, happy birthday beer can. 75 five years later we are still drinking from cans.... Is that a good thing you be the judge. If you are able to return your beer cans to be recycled or for a refund then I think its a good thing but if your area or state does not then its environmentally wasteful. I prefer to drink my cold beer from a keg or glass as they can be re-used over and over until being recycled
The processing of a used beer can into something else can add  emissions to the environment and is a waste of energy, so my plug is let's not get to heavy here just do the right thing, relax and have a cold one

My Beer Kegerator: Beer Handle

Well I thought I would show the new tap handle that I just picked up. As you may notice it's from my local micro brewery Nickle Brook. One of the great things with having a kegerator is the fact you can change over your tap handle to what ever it is that you have on tap or there just nice to display behind your bar.
If your interested in purchasing a handle have a look at the site below.

My Beer kegerator: Social Media and Beer thoughts

I'm sure I'm not the first one to write about this and most likely wont be the last. I have noticed recently that there are a lot of sites related to beer, if you type into Google the following term best beer sites, you will get a hit of 23,200,000 wow that a lot of beer talk. With all of those sites talking, selling or describing things about beer you would have to wonder how much of this is driven by the whole social media world we now live in.. I would guess a huge part of it is and it will undoubtedly continue to grow.
I would speculate that most large breweries are and have been using various social medial tools to drive their products to a whole larger market.... Beer is golden let the bloggers, twitters and facebookins plug away, as I don't pretend to be a beer expert, I do like a beer and beer related stuff, hence the reason why I have this site and post items relating to the amber nectar. Social media has given me a way of sharing, in a nice way, my beer thoughts and my beer kegerator stories. here's to ya

Here is a beer thought for 2010

The whole 2.0 web world allows you do do a lot of amazing things like post to your social media site or watch beer a commercial posted on Youtube on your phone. I predict that cell phone companies will start selling reduced cost service plans by introducing commercials on your phone that you have to watch in order to subscribe to the reduced rate.. call me crazy but I bet it will happen if it isn't happening already... lets wait and see

My Beer Kegerator: Drinking With George

I recently read a very funny and interesting book by George Wendt, also known as Norm Peterson the very funny character he played on the hit television show Cheers.
It's seems that George grew up with the love of the amber nectar, his story's about exploring beer as a teenager and working as a Second city player in Chicago are a great read. If you a beer person and enjoy a good read I recommend the book as a "must beer read". The books is available from beerbooks.com located on this site

here's a quote from the book Will Rogers once said he never met a man he didn't like. I feel the same about beer

Video of George taking about his new book
